Selling online is often ultimate goal of those wishing to get online. It is often a daunting prospect, however it has never been easier to sell online. There are many popular hosted platforms to get you selling online, as well as shopping cart software, and payment gateways which can be implemented on a website to facilitate anyone to sell online.
Shopping Carts / eCommerce Platforms
Depending on your online presence you can choose to have a hosted online shop (shopify, ebay, tictail etc., bespoke online store using Magneto, ZenCart, OpenCart or osCommerce, or online store implemented into your website CMS. An example of a solution would be a WordPress CMS, using WooCommerce or MarketPress using PayPal to process payments.
For a WordPress website, I like using WooCommerce with one of the popular payment gateways. WooCommerce also offers you the facility to process orders as well as other functionality such as stock control. Other functionality is available through using plugins.
Payment Gateways
There are many payment processors available Stripe, Realex Payments, SagePay, Skrill and Paypal, to name a few, which enable you to process debit and credit card payments.
The payment gatways I favour are Stripe, Realex Payments and Paypal, depending on the clients situation and choice.
