File manipulation using Python

Despite being pre-disposed to using Perl for this task, i chose to use Python. Much of it was file manipulation the kinda thing COBOL does, and Perl parses so well, although I avoided going into the quagmire which is regular expressions and used Python, to develop the script I used Anaconda which I am really impressed with, and would recommend to anyone learning Python.
